When you join PruHealth you automatically start with a bronze status. During the next twelve months though you’ll have the chance to move up to silver, gold or even platinum.
Your status will increase by earning Vitality points through taking part in various activities throughout the year. The more points you earn in a single year, the higher your status could become. And, as a reward for your efforts, the higher your Vitality status the more you’ll save on next year’s premium. You could save 50%, 75% or even 100% of this year’s premium towards the cost of renewal depending on the claims you make.
The following example is for a male aged 35 living in Oxford, with an Essential Plan, £0 Excess and National hospital cover. It is intended to illustrate the way the PruHealth Vitality rewards programme can affect your premium assuming no claims are made. Actual premiums will depend on individual circumstances.
| Year 1 | |
|---|---|
| Monthly base premium | £55.74 |
| First year discount (25%) | £13.94 |
| Monthly premium paid after discount | £41.81 |
| Year 2 | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Monthly base premium (after inflation) | £62.43 | |||
| Vitality status (% of Year 1 premium earned for not claiming) | Bronze (25%) | Silver (50%) | Gold (75%) | Platinum (100%) |
| No claims bonus | £13.94 | £27.87 | £41.81 | £55.74 |
| Monthly premium paid after discount | £48.49 | £34.56 | £20.62 | £6.69 |
The example was calculated in January 2008 and is effective until 30th June 2008. These are for illustration only and your actual premium will depend on your individual circumstances. Please note that your renewal premium before any savings will rise due to your age and the effects of medical inflation, in the example above this is assumed to be a total of 12% (including age) but this is not guaranteed and may be more or less than this figure.
